Herbal Acne Remedy
Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca)
One well known external herbal acne remedy is
tea tree oil. Also known by its scientific name of
Melaleuca.
This oil is an ingredient in many natural
dandruff shampoos and acne cleansing soaps.
Tea trees are native to the continent of
Australia. The oil made there is regulated to a standard set by
the Australian government.
Aloe Vera Glycerine Soap
Glycerine soap is another popular external
herbal acne remedy. Some of these clear soaps include herbals
or vitamins such as aloe vera, Vitamin E, botanicals and tea
tree oil.
The soap is often applied to the face with a
very soft boar bristle shaving brush. This gently gets the
pores clean.
Some people keep this soap in a plastic cup,
along with the brush, in their shower. They wash their face
with the soap and brush every morning and evening to help
relieve acne.
Carrots
Carrots contain cartenoids that are believed to
be good for the skin. In fact, the medicine named Retin-A that
doctors prescribe for severe acne is made from cartenoids.
Many people believe that drinking a glass of
carrot juice every day may help the health of their skin and
eyes. Some women even use carrot juice as a facial mask. We
haven't seen any scientific proof that this helps but it might
be worth a try.
Wine
In Italy, a current fad is for women to
wash their faces with red wine. You have to love the Italians.
However there actually seems to be some scientific basis for
this practice.
Grapes contain alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA's).
Many facial lotions and cleansers contain these fruit acids.
These AHA's are also found in apple juice, pineapple juice,
grape juice and some yogurts.
